2011 top 10

I was originally going to just do a top 5 but there have been so many great web videos this year I decided to make a top 10. What a rad year for web videos.

(10) This dude has a simple yet burly style. Plenty of solid footage for what was supposed to be a frame and bars promo.

(9) You know your boy's a good street rider when you're literally worried for his safety when he's about to do a trick (ie: ledge drop off at 1:05 - so crazy)

(8) All 3 of these were sick, however the song choice and editing in this one is particularly good. Coops might just be the hardest working dude in the Australian BMX scene at the moment.

(7) I always knew this dude was good but god damn! His opposite game is beyond dialed. Seriously, how many bangers do you want to put in 1 edit? haha

(6) I haven't yet met this dude but the riding in this is on point. Whip to manual to 180 out was unreal.

(5) This edit has a real good vibe to it. Bunch of dudes bombing rails like it's going out of fashion. So good.

(4) It's Dak. What do more do you want? He grinds a 5 ft wall for fucks sake! haha

(3) The amount of bike control this kid has is nothing short of phenomenal. I also can't help but like the song.

(2) This dude does the hardest shit and makes it look so easy. Awesome video.

(1) To say these guys are on top of their game is an understatement. Garrets 180 bars to alley oop crook to 180 out was smooth as fuck and I can't remember seeing one before apart from maybe doing one by accident playing Dave Mirra 2 on Play Station with my boy Heath haha

These are just 10 videos I could remember off the top of my head. I'm sure I have forgotten some. There have been so many good web videos this year it's been hard to keep track. Also, I know I may be slightly biased but Australian riding more than deserves a few spots in the top 10. I really feel like Australian riding is on par with the states these days.

On another note, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2011 has been rad for me, here's to another awesome year!

Video: Samson Ross Macneil/666 edit

My friend Samson has bear arms that allow him to hop far distances to grind things. Regular humans can't really do this as well as him.

London

We just spent 1 week in London and to be honest it wasn't bad apart from the fact that the place is bullshit expensive and maybe a little over rated. However despite these factors we still had fun.

I didn't ride at all mainly due to bad weather. On days when it wasn't raining it reached a high of about 5 degrees. And for a guy not knowing anybody in London I struggled to get motivated to ride and try and meet people in temperatures that low.

Anyway, more on the trip. We took a coach there, the photo below was inside the bus, inside a giant train, inside a tunnel, under the English channel!

The trains from the outside...
We spent most of our nights drinking at the hostel with some nice but quite nerdy french guys.

We also made friends with this guy...

Abbey road recording studio...

'Epic' Jetty 'fail' is that what the kids are saying these days? ey? is it?

And to finish off this post, a few sick brags...

Our time and money for this trip is starting to run out but before we head home we'll be enjoying some time in the snow. I wish it would hurry up and get here though, the weather's bad enough to stop me from riding but its still not cold enough for snow. More soon kids.

I'm back riding a frame of mammoth proportions and loving it. Can't wait to put this thing through its paces in London

Hipstergram

I recently raided my boy Pierre's hipstergram account as his photos of recent events are way trendier than mine, also I've been a bit slack taking photos of things lately I must admit.

Delicious annual Thanks Giving dinner made by my lovely wife and enjoyed with new friends...

Rad bar in Paris called TAPE that we drank at one night. Cheap drinks and chilled people, what more could you ask for in a bar?

Tribute to Jimmy Morrison, as some may know he's buried here in Paris. I know my boy Frenchie already covered this once before but I thought this new Graf on he tree next to his grave was pretty cool.

Snapped this one night while on my way home from hitting the streets, I'm artsy as fuck I know haha

Semi under cover park that we rode, a temporary escape from the damp streets...

Pierre nosing it, note both his facial expression (excellent mad dog) and perhaps not as obvious the bird in the background next to his arm, so good haha

I've been a bit slack with the updates lately I know, however the weather is slowly turning bad so riding daily is proving difficult.

If you're not French don't pronounce Paris 'Paree'

We had 2 unusually warm weather days for November in Paris and as a result I had an awesome weekend! My hip's almost 100% better so I rode both saturday and sunday this week. The homie Pierre also hooked it up with a mad BBQ on Saturday night. Below are some photos from over the weekend.I'm usually not the biggest fan of bowls however this one was super fun...

This spot was dope as fuck although I managed to loop out a manual and get cosy with the concrete at speed yet again...

This indoor was in an old community centre and made for a fun ride. The locals were awesome and smoked us out after the session too haha

I managed to go an entire weekend without clocking a single clip although I still had a shit ton of fun so I guess that's all that matters. I did manage to get some decent clips of Pierre though, perhaps I'll cook up a Paris edit if I get my act together some time soon. Looking forward to getting my new frame soon too.

Budgie Smugglers

It's cold, it's raining and I can't ride due to injury.
So here's some skateboarding budgies in the meantime...

Selfies

I crashed the other day and my hip is a bit jacked up so I'm resting in hopes that i'll be good enough to ride street next week in Down Town Paris with my Boy Pierre. Having said that I literally have nothing to report riding wise at the moment.

In the mean time please enjoy this photo of a lovely Asian couple taking selfies to a whole new level. As practical as this may be, deep down you're still lame haha

Hungary for spots...ahhhh

Hungary was by far my favorite part of Eastern Europe. I managed to meet some locals and they showed me around which was awesome. The guy on the far right of the picture below is Kevin, he's bullshit good at bikes. Here is an older edit of his which doesn't really do his riding justice but anyway:

This rail was fun but both the run up and landing were pretty shit.

Gnarly axel/frame breakage on an up rail attempt...

Downtown street plaza made for fun hangouts and a good place to meet

I also attended a jam which was fun and I competed too which I never normally do and for good reason haha Even though this was relaxed as fuck I think i'll stick to filming on the streets.

Bad ass ledge...
As far as non riding activities go we went to a thermal bath, these are pretty rad and I ran into a girl I went to high school with here too. Pretty crazy.

We also stayed on a boat for a week, it was a 3 star hotel that happened to be cheaper than some backpacking hostels places we looked at.

Thanks to all the locals who took care of me especially Viktor Bako, the dude is the man in Budapest he knows everyone an he's super nice too. Below is and edit featuring him and some other dudes. Personally it's a bit corporate for my taste but it gives you an idea of what Viktor's capable of on a bike.

We're now in Salzburg and damn it's cold, and it's not even officially winter yet.

Czech yourself before you wreck yourself

We stayed in Prague, Czech Republic for 4 days and to be honest the city was cool but the people were not. I've seriously never met people so uninterested in everything, I even got pretty majorly champ attacked on a flat rail by some local kids, what's depressing is that one of them was actually really good. I've seen champing take place more times than I care to remember on transitions but to see it come from one of my fellow street brothers was a bit of a reality Czech. Never the less we Czeched out Mystic Skatepark which I'd seen in videos before and it really is as fun to ride as it looks.

This place is almost completely dominated by skaters, nearly all of them are super good too. It's really fun to watch, I have the upmost respect for good skaters who give respect back to the bmx community. I really don't see why we can't all peacefully coexist, not everybody shares my view, but, all this skater vs bmxer shit needs to stop in my opinion. Most local skaters here were pretty chilled out, you really just have to Czech before you roll out onto the course.

Concrete jersey barrier down ledge, Czech!

Czech out that spilt level.

That's all for now, remember to Czech back every couple of days for more Euro goodness. Sorry I know this post was terrible.

Vocko comes through!

I would just like to say a quick congratulations to my boys Mike Vockenson and Stephen Joseph (photographer) for scoring the cover of issue 41 of 2020 bmx magazine. For those of you who don't personally know Mike let me assure you he is one of the most down to earth, laid back and talented dudes in the Australian BMX scene right now. For some of you younger kids out there (not all), but some, let me school you on a few things. Many of you are 'fully sik' at doing tail whips but you fail miserably at being a pleasant person to be around. As well as being extremely talented, friendly and approachable Mike has, perhaps most importantly, respect for other people. He is a walking example of just how far you can get in life with such qualities. So take note and expect to see even more big things from Mike in the future. I'm stoked to call Michael my friend, congrats again mate!

Germany

We left Germany yesterday and to be honest It was pretty cool! I didn't quite know what to expect but all in all we had a good time. I would like to thank everybody who helped us out along the way, you guys know who you all are. Below are a few photos from our time there.

I know it's cliche as fuck but Oktoberfest was a whole mess of fun, despite us spending most of time sinking piss with Australian and English back packers...

This was upsetting...

Berlin Skate Hall proved to be a fun session despite my 'old mate' lower back pain paying me a visit the next day. I hate it when that cunt shows up...

Built to be ridden?

And lastly a picture of me and my special lady that no BMXers are interested in except me haha

We're now in Prague, Czech Republic, which is proving to be a quite under rated city. More posts coming soon.
